Buying a 1969 Bug
It was just before lockdown and I was looking for a project. I had a couple of Bugs back in the late 80's / early 90's and I just had this massive urge to re-live the experiences and joys I remembered from 30 years ago. So I started looking. As a relic of 1969 myself I felt it only right and proper that I 'saved' a Bug from the same year. This was the only 1969 I could find, I kinda wanted a whole car! But, this one was very solid despite appearances and was in budget... And so here, the story begins.

Where to begin?
I never wanted a convertible, but I did want a project... Oh boy, was this a project! And it was a 69 so 2 out of three? I'll take that. I had no idea what I wanted to build with this, It was being prepared for a Wizard kit before I took it on. Now, don't get me wrong, I do like a wizard but that back panel from the deck lid to behind the seats is such a big boring dead space to me. Besides, Its mine now, I can build what ever I want, without compromise... so I did.

Owning a cool Bug
I never built this car for any reason other than for myself. It wasn't built to show standards, it wasn't built to accommodate any trends or styles. Hell it wasn't even pre planned, it just came to life in front of me, the car told me how she should be put together... And I have no regrets. And now, everywhere I go, I get adulation beyond what makes me comfortable. I am getting used to it, but its weird. I just built a car the way I wanted to build it, and it turns out people think its pretty frickin' awesome!
